Thomas J. Pierry, Sr. was admitted to the California Bar as a lawyer
in 1965. He has been representing injured workers and their families
for nearly thirty-five years. He began practicing on the waterfront
in Wilmington, California in 1968, specializing in personal injury
litigation and workers compensation claims.
In 1971, he became a partner in the Law Firm of Magana, Cathcart,
McCarthy & Pierry, out of which Pierry & Moorhead, LLP evolved.
Mr. Pierry specializes in serious bodily injury or wrongful death
cases involving waterfront and maritime workers and was the lead
trial attorney in the Federal Court trial of an injured worker who
became a paraplegic. The case resulted in a verdict of $10,000,000.00.
Mr. Pierry has obtained many multi-million dollar settlements and
verdicts over the years, and most recently, in October and November
of 1999, was trial attorney along with his son, Thomas J. Pierry,
III, in the trial of a wrongful death case involving a 66-year-old
longshore foreman which resulted in a verdict of nearly $1,200,000.00.
